Reason for odontological appointment in the first childhood

Abstract

Concerned with the parent ́s awareness related to the children ́s mouth health, this work evaluated by the means of 80 charts reviewing. The reason for appointment children from 0 to 3 years old on Baby Clinic ULBRA Torres Campus. The data collected show that in 52,3% of the cases the reason of appointment was prevention, 32,5% was caries, 11,2% was traumatism and only 5% of patients searched for treatment due to affections. It was concluded that, although there is already some knowledge related to baby’s appointments, the Surgeon-Dentist must execute active role of educator and together with the pediatrician, approach the children precociously, bringing more information to the population ́s awareness and maintenance of children ́s mouth health.
