Leaders perception of one community in relation to the Family Health Program in Porto Alegre/RS

Abstract


The qualitative research evaluate the perception of community ́s leaders of three unites of the family heath program in Porto Alegre-RS city, to check the existence of improvements in health, as well as in the relationship of the health staff with the community. Topics referring to participation of the community in the Health Council were also raised. Research data were collected by means of semi-structured interviews with open-ended questions. Three leaders of the adstricted area were interviewed. It was verified that the leaders mention that community perceives improvements in respect to the service provided by the health staff, highlighting that the majority of the population accepts well the house visits, and that there is a good relationship between the enrolled inhabitants and the health staff. One negative point named refers to the access to medium and high complexity appointments. In relation to the Health Council, the community’s participation is little due to lack of motivation.
