In the modern day, power tools becoming more flexible and convenient. Electric impact wrenches utilize the power of batteries allow them to be taken anywhere. The DEWALT DCF894B and DFC894HB are a few of such tools. On the market, they are called DEWALT DCF894B 20V Max XR 1/2" Mid-Range Cordless Impact Wrench with Detent Pin Anvil and DCH894HB with the same name but Hog Ring Anvil. Here in Geariz, we will give you their feature, pros and cons, differences between them, user reviews and our personal opinions.

    Features

Both tools have almost the same features except their anvil, detent pin, and hog ring. Detent pin is for those who want to maximize socket retention and hog ring for those who wish for a simple and fast way to change sockets.

With the frame of 8.1 x 3.2 x 9.6 inches and weigh around 3.5 pounds without battery, the tool is compact and light until the battery is equipped. Both tools have the maximum torque power of 330 feet pounds, has two modes of operating, and maximum hammer speed of 900 RPM and 2000 RPM.

Special features available is the Precision Wrench Control, during the forward mode, they help users to accurately stop just before the bolt is tight enough, prevent the over-torque situation. On the other hand, during reverse, it instead averts the problem of a bolt or nut runoff.

They also have a variable speed trigger for easy hammer speed control and a LED light allow the operator to work in dark areas.

The 2 tools only use batteries of max 20 voltages. Over that line, the tool’s life will decrease but not too little, you won’t have enough power. The suitable range is 18 to 20 volts.

Both tools have 3 years warranty including 1 Year Free Service Contract, 90-Day Money Back Guarantee.

    Pros

-    Good maximum power.

-    Light and compact.

-    Versatile speed setting.

-    LED light for dark places

-    Max socket retention for detent pin anvil and easy socket change for hog ring anvil

-    Precision Wrench Control helps users to avoid troublesome plights.

-    3 years warranty, 1-year free service and 90-day refund if not satisfied.

Cons

-    The whole package on the market is not included a battery.

-    Will become heavy when the battery is armed.

-    Hog ring type will become worse over time.

User reviews

While both is almost the same, DCF894B, the one with detent pin, is way more popular. One simple reason is that the DCF894HB, the hog ring one, will wear down over time, makes it hard to keep the socket in place.

With only that problem, many people say it a great tool, good power, speed, has speed adjustment, LED light, etc… Who can say no to this?

    Conclusion

The one available on the market is a tool only, you have to buy a battery separately, which is quite a hassle. But it a good investment if you want a cordless tool that has great power for many works, variable speed setting for versatile usage, LED light for low light spaces and especially the Precision Wrench Control to help us to prevent some problems.

As for which type, detent or hog, it up to your preference. They are both good but only hog ring type has a slight problem when used for a long time, it will wear down and cannot hold the socket properly.
